1. Starstone Barrows Overview

Located southeast of Everfall, the Starstone Barrows expedition offers a thrilling experience. While the recommended level for this expedition is 35, we recommend tackling it as early as level 33, as this is when you can begin receiving repeatable quests. The dungeon is longer and more complex than the Amrine Excavation, featuring dangerous laser traps that demand attention and precision. The loot is well worth the effort, including the Sliver of Crystalized Azoth, a valuable crafting mod, especially for healers.

Entrance:

The entrance is located on the north side of the Starstone Barrows building.

2. Mob Types

All enemies in Starstone Barrows are Ancients. They are particularly vulnerable to Strike, Void, and Lightning damage. For this reason, builds using weapons like the War Hammer or Void Gauntlet work exceptionally well here.

3. Repeatable Quests

At level 23, you can pick up the quest More Bones for Barkimedes from the expedition. This quest requires you to loot three Skeleton mini-bosses, each dropping a bone. Completing this quest rewards you with 6,760 XP.

Important Notes:

· The quest turn-in is not located right outside the expedition entrance. You will need to head to Windsward to meet with Barkimedes outside Amrine Excavation to complete it.

· At level 33, you can also start receiving faction expedition missions from Everfall.

4. Layout

Starstone Barrows features a layout that might be confusing at first, with lots of backtracking and, of course, laser traps. These lasers often indicate areas you cannot access, except in a few special rooms where a laser protector is required.

· Tip: If you get lost, always check your map for the next objective location and follow it to avoid unnecessary detours.

5. Bosses

There is only one main boss in Starstone Barrows, Greundgul the Regent, but plenty of mini-bosses to keep you on your toes.

5.1 Greundgul the Regent

Greundgul starts as a pile of bones and, once engaged, forms into a fierce two-handed sword-wielding skeleton. He has two phases:

Abilities:

· Bone Spear: Greundgul will throw a spike-like bone at a player. This causes several skeletons to spawn. After the first bone is thrown, the number of bones will increase with each use.

· Shockwave Slam (Phase 2): Greundgul leaps into the air and slams his sword into the ground, creating a shockwave. The shockwave does mild damage but can stagger players hit by it.

Strategy:

· DPS and Healers: Stand behind Greundgul to avoid his sweeping sword attacks.

· Ranged: Group up near the boss so that when the bone is thrown, it can be quickly killed along with its skeletons.

· Phase 2: Avoid the shockwave by dodging or blocking, and focus on maximizing DPS while managing the bones.

6. Puzzles and Lasers

Starstone Barrows is filled with lasers that will instantly kill anyone who touches them. In most areas, you’ll either need to crawl under or avoid them. However, the Laser Room is an exception.

6.1 Laser Room:

The Laser Room requires careful navigation:

1. Go left of the entrance, then climb over the rock to the left of the gate.

2. Walk around the next laser gate and head left up the ramp.

3. Jump across a gap and climb up the ledge.

4. Pass under a moving laser. Be cautious as it moves inconsistently.

5. Jump across several gaps to reach the protection font.

6. Activating the protection font gives you a temporary buff that creates a dome around you, blocking lasers. However, any attack, ability use, or dodge roll will cancel this buff.

7. Loot Drops

Some of the valuable items you can acquire in Starstone Barrows include:

· Graveguard's Seal

· Staff of the Immolated Veil

· Obsidian Rapier

· Creeping Cold

· Tip of the Morning Star

· Stonehewn Ring

· Sliver of Crystalized Azoth

· Fleeting Reality

· Glacial Longsword

7.1 Heartrune

You can obtain the Starstone Heartrune by completing the normal difficulty of Amrine Excavation or by entering the mutated version of Starstone Barrows, which combines both expeditions.

7.2 Mutated Drops

The mutated version of Starstone Barrows drops special items, including:

· Simon Grey’s Helmet

· Crusher’s Craze

· Frozen Mire

· Masquerade Mask

· Obsidian Edged Musket

· Staff of the Befouled Temple

8. Artifacts

Once your character reaches max level, you can tackle Starstone Barrows at a higher difficulty. After defeating Greundgul the Regent in this mutated expedition, you have a chance of obtaining the Blooddrinker ring, which offers a rare perk—reducing your damage by 25% in exchange for an additional 25% lifesteal and a 5% buff to all healing from lifesteal. This is particularly useful for tank or lifesteal builds.

9. Limited Mount Drop

Perfect the expedition and reach level 3 mutation difficulty to unlock a unique drop—a Wolf Mount Skin called Wolfgang. This mount not only looks great but also serves as a trophy of your achievement in Starstone Barrows.
